Learning Together: Exploring Wind Energy Through Hands-On Experience

On September 14, 2026, the Vienna Technical Museum , in collaboration with the Austrian Media Library, officially handed over the wind energy workshop kit and accompanying learning materials to the Aurelium team (Centrum vedecko-technických informácií SR (CVTI SR) in Bratislava. The workshop was developed and tested in Austria throughout 2026 as part of the Twin City Future Innovation Manufacturing Hub.

The handover marks an important next step following the workshop’s development phase. The teams came together to unpack the wind turbine model, explore its individual components and go through the workshop concept and its practical implementation.

Vienna’s Technical Museum team demonstrated how to assemble the wind turbine model and explained how the workshop can be delivered to children aged 12 and above.

How Wind Turbines Work

A central element of the workshop is an interactive challenge: finding the right conditions for producing wind energy.

Participants experiment with the positioning and interaction of several wind turbines and explore how different factors can influence their performance. The challenge is to find a balance between:

🌬️ Maintaining suitable wind conditions
🌀Keeping the turbine stable
🤝Working effectively with other turbines

The workshop will launch in October 2026. We look forward to inspiring pupils, children and families to explore wind energy through hands-on learning and experimentation!

A Cross-Border Educational Bridge

The pilot program is part of the Twin City Future Innovation Manufacturing Hub and is being developed and implemented jointly by the Vienna Technical Museum (Austria) and Aurelium (Slovakia).

The goal is to strengthen cross-border cooperation between Austria and Slovakia and to facilitate the exchange of educational expertise and talent development.
