Technisches Museum Wien developed a Wind Energy Workshop and transferred it to Aurelium
On Saturday 24 October 2026, visitors to the Aurelium Science Centre (CVTI SR) in Bratislava, Slovakia, took part in a new workshop entitled ‘Wind Turbines’.
They built models, experimented with different blade shapes and angles, and used fans to measure how much energy the wind can generate.
How does the Wind Lab Workshop work?
The aim of the workshop is to show children and young people how wind energy works in practice: how to build their own model, measure the energy generated, and understand the principles of renewable energy sources in a fun way.
‘As part of the SK-AT Interreg project ‘Twin City Future Innovation Manufacturing Hub’, we have adapted our energy transition workshop on wind energy for the Aurelium Bratislava and provided a complete workshop kit. This means the workshop can now be held there as well.
Developing the workshop materials was particularly exciting. Our aim was to design the content and models in such a way that they could be easily replicated and produced in-house using digital manufacturing technologies such as laser cutters and 3D printers.‘

What does this mean for schools and educational organisations?
Schools can contact Aurelium and find out more details on how students aged 12+ can participate in the workshop ‘Wind Turbines’.
The workshop will also be part of Aurelium’s regular programme for the general public.
A Cross-Border Bridge for STEM Talent Development
The workshop was developed by the Technisches Museum Wien mit Österreichischer Mediathek as part of the Interreg Slovakia–Austria ‘Twin City Future Innovation Manufacturing Hub’ project and was brought to Bratislava in collaboration with Aurelium, the Slovak Centre for Scientific and Technical Information (CVTI SR).
The aim of the activity is to strengthen cross-border cooperation between Austria and Slovakia and develop technical education in the Bratislava-Vienna cross-border innovation region.
